Hi All,
I hope Winter is fining everyone well! There’s a lot happening in and around the Club, please read through the entire email.
What’s covered below:
p. Club Highlights
Club Night – June 21st
Club Captain nominations
Club Perpetual Trophy returns
Club AGM & Trophy Night
p. 2025/26 Registration
p. Tasmanian State Championships
Club HighlightsIt’s been great to see lots of competition participation this term, especially among our younger and newer Club members. Meanwhile, our older swimmers have been preparing hard for the Tasmanian and Victorian Age championships next term. More broadly, the Club continues to show consistent, sustainable and manageable growth, particularly the Bronze squad. This is great to see because Winter training is HARD, and we traditionally see a drop-off in membership, so any growth is a win for the Club.
Club Night – June 21stIf you’ve been putting it off, please
register and pick your events for the Club Night next Saturday evening 6:00-8:00pm. For senior swimmers who are competing at the Firbank event, even if you are too tired to swim, it would be great to see you there to help out with event logistics. Parents, please also note that this is a small fundraiser for the Club, remember to pay –
$5 for individual swimmers,
$10 for families – via the TeamApp shop.
Junior AND Senior Club Captain NominationsIan will shortly be sending out an invitation to Senior (14+) and Junior (<13) swimmers to nominate for Club Captain roles. We’ve decided to expand the leadership team to include Junior Captains to give our younger swimmers a chance to develop leadership skills. There will be two senior and two junior captains. The election process and role will be explained in more detail by Ian, but have a think about whether this is something you would like to do.
Please Return Club Perpetual TrophiesIt’s nearly time for our AGM and trophy night, which means it’s time to return your perpetual trophies (the big ones) from last year’s presentation. Please place them in the big plastic container on the shelf near the wet-bag storage boxes. I will set up a temporary group on TeamApp so you can let me know when you have dropped yours off.
Club AGM and Trophy Presentation NightThe AGM and Trophy night will be on late afternoon-early evening of Sunday 17th August. For new member families, the AGM and Trophy night is a really important part of our calendar. It is a great opportunity to acknowledge all the consistent and hard work put in by our swimmers. Please pencil it into your diary. We will send out times and location details over the next month or so when we have nailed down a venue.
The AGM is also where we ask parents to think about joining the Committee. As the Club grows there are more opportunities, but also more jobs. As they say in the classics, many hands make light work!
2025/26 RegistrationA reminder that we are fast approaching the end of the swimming year. You will receive a notification from Swimming Victoria fairly soon. Please remember to re-register your swimmer and yourself asap so that our insurances are all covered.
Tasmanian State ChampionshipsThere is a lot of logistics planning happening (by our tireless Treasurer, Christine) for our older swimmers and parent supporters attending the Tasmanian Statement Championships in August. Please make sure to read and return the
Athlete Information Form and the General Information Note.
That will do for this (rather long) message. Thanks for getting to bottom.
Crispin
Club President
