Omnibus Congratulations and Thank you's

18 Aug by Crispin Butteriss

Good evening / morning everyone,

Thank you to everyone who came along to our AGM and Trophy Presentation evening last night. It was wonderful to see so many of you there to celebrate another big year for the club.

Club Captains

A huge thank you to our retiring captains, Analena and Samuel, who stepped into the role last year without much of a framework and really made it their own.

Congratulations to our new captaincy team. This year we’ve gone even further, with Senior, Junior and Nipper captains!

Senior Captains (2025–26): Anneka Croxon and Miles Parfitt (Gold Squad)

Junior Captain: Antonio Polito (Silver Squad)

Nipper Captain: Neika Walter (Bronze Squad)

Neika is one of our youngest swimmers and will be a great role model for those just starting out.

Club Champions

For the first time in many years, we were able to award all four Club Champion trophies. These go to our fastest senior 400m IM swimmers and junior 200m IM swimmers.

Senior Champions: Analena Moning and Charlie Butteriss

Junior Champions: Asha King and Raf Butteriss

Age Champions

Age Champions are awarded to the fastest swimmers across all four strokes — 100m for seniors, 50m for juniors. To be eligible, swimmers must compete in both long and short course meets and enter at least three of the four strokes.

Girls Champions: Keira Hanley, Esther Millard, Annabelle Daly, Asha King, Amelia Gilbert, Leah Betson, Analena Moning, Hannah Petridis

Boys Champions: Thomas Martin, Lennox Allan, Joshua Martin, Charlie Butteriss, Miles Parfitt

Coach Awards

The Coach Awards recognise swimmers who show strong commitment to training, learning, and our club values. Congratulations to this year’s recipients:

Alby Cousins (Bronze)

Antonio Polito (Silver)

Hannah Petridis (Gold)

Fiona Preston Club Person of the Year

It was a real privilege to present the Fiona Preston Club Person of the Year trophy for the very first time. This year’s recipient, our treasurer Christine King, is more than deserving of our thanks for her tireless work. From organising four Tours de Tasmania to keeping the books balanced to the last dollar, Christine has been invaluable to me and to the whole club.

Upcoming Competitions

Best of luck to all our swimmers heading to:

Vic State Open Championships (this weekend)

Tasmanian State Age Championships

Vic State Age Championships (September)

Committee Changes

Thank you to our retiring committee members Suzi Blackburn and Sarah Spencer, and to our Secretary Suellen Hunter for her tireless support in the “most glamorous” job on the committee!

We also welcome Keli Sutherland as Uniform Officer and Emma Parfitt as our new Inclusion Specialist.

As we dive into the new swimming year, we have a lot to be grateful for — a fantastic club, a great group of young swimmers, a solid committee, and a strong training base.

Thank you everyone, and I look forward to seeing you on pool deck.

Crispin
