Northcote Swim Club acknowledges the impact that periods can have on our community of young swimmers.
We understand that periods are different for each individual, and that symptoms such as fatigue, cramping, back pain, headaches, mood changes, and diarrhoea can make it feel hard to train or participate in competition.
We also understand that needing to feel ‘safe’ that leakage won’t occur can make training and competing feel challenging, and we hope this information increases swimmers’ confidence.
Northcote strives to provide a safe and inclusive culture that responds positively to the needs of our swimmers.
We aim to always support continued participation and enjoyment in competitive swimming.
Please find a guide to how to manage swimming while on your period attached.
Thank you to everyone involved in putting the guide together.
