Save the Date: Northcote Swim Club AGM & Trophy Night – 9 August

12 Jun by Crispin Butteriss

Dear Northcote Swim Club Members,

Please save the date for our 2026 Annual General Meeting and Trophy Night, to be held late afternoon (usually from around 4PM-6PM) Sunday 9 August.

This is one of the most important dates on the club calendar as we come together to celebrate the achievements, commitment and progress of our swimmers throughout the season, while also conducting the formal business of the club.

The afternoon will include:
• Presentation of Northcote Swim Club trophies and awards
• Election of the 2026–27 Committee
• Consideration of a proposed new Club Constitution
• A chance to reflect on another fantastic year for our club community

As a member-owned club, it is important that we have strong member participation in the AGM. This year's meeting will include several important administrative matters, including committee appointments and consideration of an updated constitution that will help guide the club into the future. We encourage all members to attend and have their say.

We will also be seeking nominations from members interested in joining the Committee. Around 65% of our members are junior swimmers, and the club has grown significantly in recent years. Supporting more than 100 swimmers and their families requires a great deal of volunteer effort behind the scenes.

As we look ahead to the next phase of the club's development, we are seeking members who are willing to contribute to the practical work of running the club. This includes areas such as governance, communications, administration, record keeping and member services. We will also be looking to fill the Registrar role following Stacey's retirement from the position.

Committee service is not simply about attending meetings. It involves contributing to the practical work required to run a successful community sporting organisation and helping ensure that the club continues to provide a positive, safe and rewarding environment for all swimmers.

If you have skills, experience or simply a willingness to help, we encourage you to consider nominating. Fresh perspectives and additional hands make a real difference, helping to ensure the club remains well-governed, sustainable and focused on providing the best possible experience for all swimmers and families.

Most importantly, Trophy Night is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, persistence and success of our swimmers. Whether your swimmer is receiving an award or not, we hope families will join us as we recognise the efforts of all those who have represented and contributed to the club throughout the season.

Further details, including venue information, timing, award categories and committee nomination information, will be provided in the coming weeks.

For now, please mark Sunday 9 August in your diary.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,

Crispin Butteriss
President
